Gold Coast Newborn Photography

I specialise in beautiful, timeless newborn photography on the Gold Coast, creating relaxed, baby-led sessions from my private studio in Varsity Lakes. With over 10 years of experience photographing newborns and families, I’ll capture those tiny details and connections you’ll want to remember long after your baby has grown.

What Is the Best Time for Newborn Photography?

The ideal time for newborn photography is generally between 6–16 days after birth. During these early days, newborn babies tend to be sleepier and naturally curl into those beautiful poses you often see in newborn photos.

After two weeks, it is absolutely still possible to create beautiful images. As your baby becomes more alert, we may capture more awake expressions and slightly fewer sleepy poses. Every baby is different, and I work at your baby’s pace throughout their newborn photoshoot.

I recommend booking your newborn photography session while you are still pregnant. We can reserve your session around your due date and confirm the exact date once your baby arrives.

Those first few weeks with your new baby can feel like a blur of sleepless nights, cuddles and overwhelming emotions. The tiny fingers, little toes and newborn details change incredibly quickly. My baby photography sessions are designed to preserve this fleeting stage and create beautiful photographs of your baby and family that you can look back on for years to come.

Ready to Book Your Newborn Session?

When should I book my newborn photography session?

It’s best to book your newborn photography session while you’re still pregnant. I’ll reserve your session around your due date, then once your baby arrives, we’ll confirm the perfect day for your photoshoot. Newborn sessions are generally photographed within the first few weeks after birth.

Are parents & siblings included in newborn sessions?

Absolutely. Family and sibling photographs are an important part of your newborn session and a beautiful way to capture your growing family together.

How long does a newborn photography session take?

Newborn sessions aren’t rushed. We allow plenty of time for feeding, changing and settling your baby throughout the photoshoot so you can relax and enjoy the experience.

Where is your newborn photography studio?

My newborn photography studio is conveniently located in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast. The studio has everything we need for your session, including a beautiful collection of newborn props, wraps and outfits.

Do I need to bring outfits or props for my baby?

No! I have a carefully selected collection of newborn outfits, wraps, blankets and props available for you to use during your session. You’re also welcome to bring something special or sentimental that you’d love included.

What if my baby doesn’t sleep during the session?

Don’t worry every baby is different! Newborn sessions allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddling and settling. I have over 9 years of experience photographing newborns and will work at your baby’s pace to create beautiful images whether they are asleep or awake.

What Happens During a Newborn Photoshoot?

Your newborn photoshoot is a relaxed, baby-led experience and usually takes around 2–3 hours. There is plenty of time for feeding, settling and cuddles, so nothing is rushed and we simply follow your baby’s cues throughout the session.

We usually begin with family and sibling photos. I’ll wrap your baby and give you time for a feed while I spend a little time getting to know your toddler or older children. I like to give them a little test run in front of the camera, making it fun and building their trust before we begin. This helps them warm up to me and understand what we’re going to do without putting pressure on them.

Once the family and sibling photos are finished, Dad, your partner or another family member can take the older children out while we concentrate on your newborn. There is a large park and playground within walking distance of the studio, or they can relax with a movie or head to the local shops for some lunch.

For your baby’s photos, I usually photograph around three different prop setups, along with some of my classic newborn poses. If your baby is sleepy, we can capture those beautiful curled-up newborn images. If they are more alert, that’s completely okay too, We’ll capture their little expressions and personality instead. Every baby is different, and I work with what your baby is comfortable doing on the day.

See Your Newborn Photos the Same Day

This is one of my favourite parts of the experience and something a little different about my newborn photography sessions.

Once we have finished photographing your baby, you can get them dressed and settled for another feed while I prepare your images. This usually takes me around 15 minutes.

Then, rather than waiting weeks to see your newborn photos, you’ll see them that very same day in a beautiful slideshow.

I show you your photographs before you purchase your collection, so you can choose with confidence and only buy the images you genuinely love. You’ll see the quality of your photographs straight from the camera before extensive editing. Clients often tell me they can’t believe how finished their images already look.

My approach is to create as much as possible in camera, using my experience with lighting, posing and styling rather than relying on heavy editing or AI to create the final photograph.

We’ll watch your images together, select your favourites and, if you would like wall art, albums or other products, I’ll help you design those too.

Once you’ve selected your collection and everything is finalised, you’ll usually be ready to head home around lunchtime — with the exciting part already done and no waiting weeks to discover what we captured.

Family & Sibling Newborn Photos

Welcoming a new baby is a special moment for the whole family, so I love including parents and siblings in your newborn photos. These images capture not only how tiny your new baby is, but also the connection between your children and your family at this stage of life.

I usually photograph family and sibling photos at the beginning of your newborn session, while older children are still fresh and interested. If you have a toddler, I’ll spend a little time getting to know them first. We might have a little practice in front of the camera, have some fun and build their trust before asking them to cuddle up with their new baby brother or sister.

There is never any pressure for a sibling to perform or sit perfectly. I work with their personality and attention span to capture natural interactions and those beautiful little moments between them.

Once the family and sibling photographs are finished, an adult can take the older children to the nearby playground, head out for lunch or relax with a movie while we continue with your baby’s newborn photos.

Family and sibling photographs are included as part of your newborn photography session, so you don’t need to book a separate family photoshoot. I want you to come away with photographs that tell the story of your whole family as it grows.

From Newborn Photos to Beautiful Wall Art

Your newborn photos deserve to be seen and enjoyed, not forgotten on a phone or computer. After your session, I’ll help you choose your favourite images and decide how you would love to display them in your home.

As a wall art specialist, I can help you create custom wall art designed specifically for your space. We can use photographs of your own walls to visualise different sizes, layouts and frame options, so you can see how your artwork will look in your home before ordering.

You can choose from beautiful wall art, albums, keepsake boxes and digital collections, with options to suit different homes, styles and budgets.

My goal is to turn your newborn photographs into something your family can see and enjoy every day preserving those tiny details long after your baby has grown.
